Resolved Question:

''92 gmc sonoma a.t. v6 won''t fire up...thought it was neutral safety switch - nope - tried adjusting clamp screw, maybe it was loose - nope - happened before, and I let it sit a few days, and it fired right up. Any idea?

Hello and thank you for choosing Just Answer.

What happens when the car does not want to start?

Does it turn and crank?

Do you have a voltmeter or something to check voltage?

Reply to OnlineMechanic's Post: doesn't turn, doesn't crank...makes beeping tone to let you know the key is in the ignition, and there is voltage running through it

Yeah I kind of figure the voltage is there, since it turns if you leave it for a couple of days.

You will need to measure the voltage at the starter. Put a voltmeter at the starter and see if there is 12v at the starter when the key is turned. If 12v is at the starter, but the car does not crank the starter has gone bad. If 12v the ignition switch is going bad.
