1995 Lincoln Town Car Executive. New Battery contiues to run down. Installed New Altenator. Still runs down in 24/36 hrs. Under Hood Light switch bad, light burned all the time. Removed Bulb as test.   Battery still runs down over night.. after full recharge of battery.. Can it be something in the Drivers Side Door Switch, that turns off Radio, when opened, ?

Hello there!

You definitely have a draw. Disconnect the negative side of the battery and hook up a test light between the battery cable and the post. Because there is a draw, the test light will light up. Start disconnecting fuses one at a time until the test light goes out. When it does, you have found the circuit the draw is on.

I understand your suggested proceedure, as this has been tried at the Auto Electric Shop where the New Alternator was installed. The car was put on a scope to analyze all systems, and the old Alternator was found with a direct bleed.

And after the new alternator was installed, the battery continues to die overnight?

Note: The 1995 Lincoln TC/Executive allows the radio to continue playing when the key is turned off and removed, but when the drivers side door is opened the radio turns off. This same door switch will allow a bell or ding ding sound if the key is left in the ingnition switch, while the door is open. Can this switch go bad and continue to bleed energy from the battery. The ding ding alarm continues even when the key is removed, and the door is open..?
