Hi can you give a little more in fo on what your doing on your car ?
Customer
bleeding brake system on 1967 pontiac GTO with four piston caliper style. original from factory
sorry ,so your trying to get the front caliper pistons to push in ?
Customer
they push in but i still have no brakes
one thing you can try is with someone inside the car and you at the brake master cylinder have the person inside slowly push down the pedal as you open one line alittle at the master ,just open it enough until you start seeing fluid come out ,and see if you have air come out ,if you do, then have the person inside keep pushing down with the line open until you see just fluid come out ,make sure they dont let off the pedal until you close that line ,do that at each line on the master ,just barely crack it open then they push down on the pedal until you see only fluid then close the line then they let up on the pedal ,then go to the next line and do the same ,try that ,if that doesnt work then you must have air somewhere else ? did recently change any parts on the car ? why did you start bleeding the brakes originally ?
Customer
Complete restoration:booster, master, calipers, rotors, drums, new lines, proportioning valves ,both.Combination&disc drum valves and all assesorys .
did you bench bleed the master ,before installing it? you will have to do that or you will definetly still have trapped air in it , it only take a little to give no pedal pressure on your brakes
Customer
yes i bleed master on bench before i installed. I have a question . i am using dot 5 silcone brake fluid. Muscle car club said it was ok to use . they use on there cars. do you recommend.
I have to check that I right now cant remember if DOT 5 is ok on that system ,I'll look !
dot 5 should be fine ! it would be better though to stay with origanal dot 3
