HiCustomer The check engine light probably came on when the belt broke, due to the alternator not turning. Once the light comes on, it needs to be cleared. To clear the light, you can try disconnecting the battery for a minute. If that doesn't work, you will have to have the code cleared using a scan tool. Many places(such as auto zone)will read the code and clear it for free. If you clear the code, and the light comes back on, we will have to troubleshoot it further.
