2000 hyundai elantra gls: slipping..reverse..transmission fluid

Customer Question

my 2000 hyundai elantra gls began slipping when the auto transmission began to shift, and then would hit real hard. then it quit going into reverse 90% of the time. i added transmission fluid and the forward motion gears work, but reverse will not.

Unfortunately it sounds like you have a failed transmission. There is no electronic control for reverse so a mechanical failure has occured. You need to get the car to a trans shop and have it checked. Don't drive it this way because you will do more(costlier) damage by driving it.
