1997 chevy: Throttle body cleaner..mass air flow..air flow sensor

Customer Question

1997 chevy k1500 5.7 l. Throttle body cleaner was sprayed into the throttle body and since that time the truck idles at 1500 rpms. Have replaced mass air flow sensor, idle air control valve, throttle position sensor, map sensor and pcv valve. Neither has cured the problem. Could that have messed up the catalytic converter? Do you have any suggestions on how to fix this problem?

You need a scan of the parameters. Idle is controled by a vacuum leak made by the iac valve. It also looks at the tps voltage setting.Anything over .59 volts and it thinks you have your foot on the gas pedal.Other wise look for a vacuum leak. And a miss, rich or lean condition will damage the convertor.

Reply to Frank's Post: How do I check the parameters and would a clogged converted affect the idle rpms?

You need a scanner to read the data. And a converter would cause a drop in power and a no run if its plugged .
