This answer was rated:

I have a 1995 Ford F 150 Pickup Truck. The steering wheel is loose and has alot of play. I feel that it is becoming dangerous to drive. How do you pull the steering wheel and airbag to fix the problem and do you know how to fix the problem once these items are pulled and what do you need to put them back together and tighten again?
Is it tilt steering?

Reply to stin1974's Post: It is not tilt steering and it's 4.9 liter; 6 cylinder.

  1. Center front wheels to the straight-ahead position.
  2. Disconnect battery to starter relay cable for at least one minute to let the air bag backup power supply discharge. WARNING: THE BACKUP POWER SUPPLY MUST BE DISCHARGED BEFORE ANY AIR BAG COMPONENT IS SERVICED.
  3. Remove four air bag module retaining nuts from air bag module on back side of steering wheel, and lift module away from steering wheel.
  1. Disconnect air bag wire harness connector, and remove module from steering wheel.
  2. Disconnect horn/speed control wire harness connector in steering wheel.
  3. Remove steering wheel retaining bolt.
  4. Install Steering Wheel Puller T77L-4220-B1 and remove steering wheel. Route contact assembly wire harnesses through steering wheel as steering wheel is lifted off shaft.
