This is a very good question with many answers!!

A good electric fuel pump can and will last for years and years.

Pumps do, over time, get weaker and weaker as they wear, but you will not notice this until they are so badly worn that they are detrimental to the running of the engine because they are still able to provide adequate fuel pressure.

One sure way to accelerate fuel pump wear is to continuously run your car too low on fuel, as I have found out for myself!!

Obviously, they are not immune from actual mechanical or electrical breakdown, but then so is everything else.

I could go on and on and on!!
