1999 Toyota Avalon: dashboard airbag light..previous owner..dealers

Resolved Question:

I have a 1999 Toyota Avalon and the dashboard airbag light blinks on and off. The previous owner brought the car to 2 Toyota dealers over a 7 year period 4 times. The most recent one was 4 months ago and it cost $160. A friend suggested removing the negative battery cable and then putting back on to "re-set" the airbag computer. Would that work?

No removing the negative cable will not reset the air computer. Do you have side impact air bags? look for the yellow sticker in the door jam stating "this vehicle is equipped....) also look for a tag in the seam of seat saying "air bag"

Unfortunately to diagnose your problem is going to require some one well versed in this system. This not a do it yourself repair, you or your loves ones lives are at stake.

Reply to toyotaman's Post: Yes - there are yellow stickers on the inside of both front doors concerning SRS side airbags.

The blinking is a code pertaining to the side air bag system.
