my subaru forrester's map feature is not keeps saying autodetecting gps receiver. any ideas
JA: Just to clarify, what's the brand and model of the GPS?
Customer: the starlink gps systen
JA: What happened right before this popped up?
Customer: it was there when i started the car. was not there when i shut it off
JA: What troubleshooting have you tried?
Customer: turned the car off, back on. drove several miles. no change
JA: Anything else you want the GPS expert to know before I connect you?

Hi, thank you for contacting My name is Russell. I will do my best to provide the right answer to your question.

That is usually a sign that the antenna lead has become disconnected. Check the antenna, and esp. its connector/connection, and clean it by rubbing the metal with a clean dry soft cloth, also, before re-connecting firmly.

After that, a Reset of the GPS facility would be appropriate.

And in the upshot if the error continues after that, you may, unfortunately, have a defective GPS in need of repairing.
