Customer Question

I have an Alpine CDA 9856 receiver and only the sw preamp out and left side preamp out is working. What could be the problem and can it be fixed?

Hi there,

If swapping patch cords did not help, then the stereo has an internal fault.

Possibly some of the connection solder joints are loose and need resoldered, or an electronic component has failed.

The stereo will need to be opened up to check visually for any signs of bad solder joints or burned components.

Any faults found can then be repaired.

If there are no visual signs of a fault, then electronic testing will be required to troubleshoot further.

If the stereo is still under warranty then it should be returned to an Alpine service center for fault diagnosis and repair:
