My suggestion is that you apply to the court to probate the will. You then immediately bring an application to the court for directions.

You ask the court to decide whether the changes would amount to a holographic will because your mother didn't do a proper codicil.

Normally this would not be valid except when it is clear that the testator's intentions are obvious. I would say that your mother's intentions were obvious and so as long as there's no question about her handwriting I would say the court will validate the will with the changes.
