VerifiedThere are no restrictions on a non-resident marrying a Canadian permanent resident provided they meet the criteria for marriage. They will need to apply for a marriage licence in Canada. They can not be currently married to someone else and they must be over the age of majority are the two primary requirements. Marriage will not in and of itself allow someone to remain in Canada.
