We desperately need help. Water log I wanted to put togetherWater logI wanted to put together a file with some information of what we have been going through for the past years. To be honest these are the ones I remember I believe there have been floods in between these so I have decided to record each one from now on. Our first flood was in 2009 and we were devastated with the damage and the work involved with the clean up of the water, mud and saving furniture to eliminate more damage, thank heavens we were younger then. Luckily our insurance covered the repairs at that time. Our next flood was in 2012 and we were not expecting this because we though the problem had been solved in 2009 with the installation of the valve in the drain. This time the same damage control and clean up was required and this happened an hour before I was leaving for Cape Breton And I had to leave Bruce with this mess to deal with by himself. At this time our insurance would not cover anything and ended up dropping us. This time we dried the flooring as best we could and hoped there would be no mold to deal with at a later date. Our next flood in 2013 we had to pull the carpet up and dry it out again. The rest of the flooring was curling up from the water damage. In 2014 the side of our house was dug up after another flood and again we though the problem was fixed so we fixed the carpet at that time and the next day we had one of those storms and we were flooded out again. Second time in the same year. We have not been able to use the recroom since that flood because we are not able to move this stuff back and forth every year, we can't go through this at our age. They came and dug the rest of the side up and that has still not corrected the problem, another flood. In 2016 I am in Preston caring for my dying sister and Bruce is home alone and we are flooded again. I had to drive home to deal with this mess again. Here we are 2017 and we are afraid to leave the house for a summer vacation, I am recovering from lung surgery for cancer with the possibility of another surgery for the other lung and Bruce is turning 80 Year old his next birthday. We are getting too old to deal with this every year. We are unable to use the lower level of our house. John has been amazing with his concern and looking into whatever he can to help us. We have a glimmer of hope now that Mr Biffis is aware of this issue that a solution is in the near future. Can't believe we have not had a flood this year, no rain and wind combinations. Feeling more positive because mr Biffis said he was going to fix the problem with the underground drainage. That is a flood in 2009, 2012, 2013, 2014 twice, 2016 nothing in 2017 and now we hold our breath in 2018. Not able to use our lower level since 2014. 2018 August 21st flooded again, rain not as bd s others. Sent an email to mr Biffis. 2019 didn't have a flood this year feeling good but not confident it is over. Sent Mr Biffis a thank you and a bottle of wine for coming over and adding some soil to the front of the house but we are sure that is not going to fix the problem. 2020 July had a rainfall and didn't think too much about it because the winds weren't too high but the rain was heavy. Went downstairs to do laundry and there we were flooded again. 2020 Aug. heavy rainfall today and we filled a 12 gallon wet vac three or four times, that's over 48 gallons of water. Along with the many sheets and bath towels we have down to slow down the flow of water coming In. Don't know how much more we can take, Bruce is 82 and I am 71 both with health problems. Expecting more rain today, just want to scream, where do we go from here. … read more
