OK, it's important to stay in touch with them as if you're still going to send more money, but don't send any more money.

Keep trying to gather information about them to report to the authorities. If there's any physical connection to Canada, the authorities might be able to make arrests and perhaps you'll get some money back. If it's purely overseas, it's unlikely that you'll recover any money I'm afraid.

But you can help shut them down and stop this from happening to others.

I wish I had better news for you. Few victims of such scams get made whole again.

You need to contact the authorities, the RCMP fraud/scam reporting service. Please look at the last link I sent you.

Then you need to call them back, or contact a consumer advocacy group who might have an inside track on how to report such matters.

If they are local, you can sue them. So you need to try to find out if they have any "local office" or anyone physically in Canada you can talk to.

The person you spoke to on the phone was just trying to get rid of you. Telling you to take them to court in Surrey is stupid. Call again, and if you get the same advice ask if there's someone else you can talk to.
