1. If I understood you correctly you have been released from the jail. So a BAIL does not need to be spoken to. Now, the recognizance, or an undertaking, or a promise-to-appear that has been issued you gives you the time and day when you have to appear in court for the so called arraignment hearing. At that hearing you will request that the judge order the Crown to provide a copy of their complete file to you and a new court date will be set. At the next date (and assuming that you have reviewed the Crown's evidence) you will plead either guilty or not guilty. I STRONGLY RECOMMEND that you speak to a lawyer before you decide how to plead. If you plead guilty a judge will scheduled a sentencing hearing. If you plead not guilty the judge will schedule a trial date.
2. If you believe that the police treated you in brutal and inappropriate way you can complain against their actions to the Office of the Police Complaint Commissioner.
