Lawyer's Assistant: What province are you in? And is a local attorney or other consumer protection advocate helping with this?

Alberta and no legal support has been engaged at this point.

Lawyer's Assistant: Have you contacted the seller or manufacturer?

The seller advised that the vehicle was not in New condition, but rather a Demo after the contract was signed. They have been making offers to "fix" the situation but I don't want the vehicle knowing this now. Am I right to assume the contract is void if hte vehicle was misrepresented at the time of signing?

The mileage on the vehicle contract has also been confirmed as not accurate after signing

The purchase price of what was represented as a new vehicle tax included is $51,200. I told them I would have to think about the options that they provided but I was not picking up the car under the current status.

In most cases trying to get out of a car purchase because one change's one's mind doesn't work and that is mainly what I hear on this site.

But in your case you are not getting what you paid for and this can be said to be a material mis-representation and it was undoubtedly deliberate.

I suggest you have a lawyer send them a letter stating that you either want a reduction in the cost and tell them what you are willing to pay or you want written acknowledgement that the contract is at an end.

What you can do to find a lawyer is one of the following things.

You can contact the Law Society and use their Lawyer Referral Service. You will be given the name of a lawyer and can consult with the lawyer and the first half hour will be free.
