, I,m a quebec resident and my father passed away inI,m a quebec resident and my father passed away in late nov 2015 in ontario he had moved back to ontario 3 months ago after residing here in quebec for 2 years . the problem is we were not shown a will and our participation in the arrangements were kept to a minimal,on my fathers second wifes wishes .we all know she's a little hard to get along with and our relationship was strained but cordial, after all we all still wanted to be part of our fathers life so we all put up with her .like alot of families nothing odd here.after a couple of weeks we didn't want to seem insensitive therfore the delay .I finally called her and after some pleasantry's i said in short that we (my 2 sisters and i)would like to see my dad's last will and testament . she said there are 2 wills ? don't know if she meant the old and new will or that she has one and he also, she then informed me that if we where in it she would have forwarded the will to us . but since we were not mentioned she didn't forward it. she then started to ask why i needed the will and i told her for my own research on my end and for peace of mind ,she then said " you can call my lawyer" in which i replied that i don't need to call her lawyer that she can just talk to me personally and forward me the documents that i needed to conduct my research . My dad's old notary in quebec is just minutes from my house and told me he needed his SIN # ***** cert.and addresses of all his resedences that he lived at and if possible the wills to conduct his investigation. she then simply replied ok and i'll get back to you and hung up before i could give her the notarys info to forward the document . needless to say we are all in shock that we are not even mentioned at all in the will not even any my dads beloning that he had before he met her ( 7 years) things that my mother gave him (jewelry etc)during their 50 year mariage . i also told her i was very surprised we were not in the will and that it' not in his DNA he and my mom were very kind and generous people . they addopted all 3 of us as babies and have a wonderfull life because of how they raised and cared for us ! i just still can't believe it . My Question is do we have any kind of recourse and can we contest the distribution of his assets and belongings. We are just average middle class people and cannot afford an epensive lawyer ,is this a costly endevor worth the troublre and stress this is causing everyone . … read more
