Can banks seize assistance funds to cover credit card debt?

So you have to change bank accounts. They will keep taking what comes in because you owe them money.

But they cannot seize the funds from another bank without suing you.

Unfortunately your disability and inability to pay do not wipe out any debt. However bankruptcy would so if you don't have any assets your best next step would be to consult with a Trustee in bankruptcy which you can do for free.

CPP and OAS and some other retirement pensions cannot be garnished and so if there is a bank account with just those benefits going into it that bank account cannot be seized.

But disability benefits are not exempt from garnishment.

But if they are in a different bank account they cannot get them without suing her.
