I am sorry to hear of this difficult situation.
Are you asking if the coat is an asset of the estate?
I can only answer one question on this post.
I will deal with the conflict of interest situation here.
The law is confusing and most people believe that the lawyer is the lawyer for the estate. In fact it is not true. The lawyer is the lawyer for the executor though the fees are paid for by the estate.
The executor directs the lawyer and the lawyer is strictly forbidden to answer you unless the executor directs the lawyer to do so.
I am sorry that is not the answer you were hoping for but the law is very clear in this area.
