I'm looking for an injury lawyer..., I'm 38 yrs. Recently IMy name is*****'m 38 yrs young. Recently I went for surgery at The Victoria Hospital with Dr.Singh. The surgery done was called an apronectomy. I stayed over night for observation, the following afternoon I was released. On Sunday I was doing my usual draining of the hemovac bags when I pulled the wrong tube out and it was no longer draining. In fact I feared it was draining inside of me. I phoned the surgeons office Monday morning to ask what I should do. They informed me to proceed to my local hospital for help. So I did. This is where the problem happened. I arrived at the hospital emergency room first thing in the morning and informed the clerk that I just had a major surgery and I could not sit up straight on a chair. She told me that the hospital rarely had a bed available and did not like having to use it. She asked me to stand and wait in the lobby. I did. Luckily I was called next due to my condition. When I was admitted to the hospital after checking my vitals they left me to wait in a room on a bed. When the nurse came in she asked me what happened so I informed her of the incident at home and what the drain was doing (nothing) and my thoughts and concerns. She went to relay this to Dr. Alyssa Delaquis and then she came to double check what was said. I relayed the same info and she informed me she wanted to take the band off to take a look. I refused saying the surgeon had told me not to take this off until the stitches and bags are coming out. That was estimated 1-2 weeks. I asked her to call the surgeon and find out what he says. I heard her calling and talking and listening to what he said. She returned to tell me that he informed her to take it off and look. So I reluctantly obliged. Once the band was off Dr. Alyssa Delaquis lifted the dressing and started pulling my surgical area along the stitches in a down ward motion towards my vaginal area. This was tearing the new stitches under the skin I could feel it happening! When she did this I was in excruciating pain forcing me to lift my knees to my chest as I cried profusely. She became quite upset and stormed out of the room flipping the curtain so hard it left me exposed to others. I was shocked but in so much pain I couldn't do anything but cry. They left me there undone and vulnerable. Eventually a nurse came back to me to help reattach me even though Dr. Delaquis hadn't helped me or the drainage bags. The nurse came in to help me however she accidentally pulled on the drain cord that was surgically stitched attached to my thigh, in a reflex I accidentally slapped the nurses arm however I was profusely apologizing and she responded it was okay. After the slap however the nurse backed away from me and left the room with her hands in the air like I was as gunman. Horrifying that no body was going to help me I see Dr. Delaquis walk by so I hollered out asking if anyone was going to help me. Dr. Delaquis yells at me that she sent someone to help me but I slapped her and then proceeded to yell that she has 11 other patients to see in an irritated loud tone as if to imply that I was bother or problem to her. I tried attaching the band as tight as I could on my own and rolled out of the bed and left the hospital crying & holding my abdomen due to the loose dressing nothing was supporting the area very well. I called a shuttle and waited crying on the bench outside the hospital. I also called my neighbor and asked her to come down and help me get the band reattached to me. She did. When that was done I phoned the surgeon in Winnipeg and informed them of everything! They recommend that I come down that day so I did with a friend who drove to Winnipeg to meet the surgeon and nurses there for assistance. All this happening has led to my healing process to be bumpy and lumpy along my incision. I cannot afford to have this repaired and therefore I am seeking the professionals and courts help in this matter. My home address is 3-22-3rd St SW in Portage la Prairie … read more
