VerifiedHello! My name is Debra (formerly known as Legal Ease). Thank you for your question. I'm reviewing it now, and will post back again shortly.
It is a bit simpler and faster with a lawyer so if you can afford an immigration lawyer in Canada then you should retain one.
Unless you are common law spouses you cannot sponsor your spouse until you are legally married.
If she is going to be in the US for the application process then when she is granted her permanent residency status she will be able to enter and then is free to work or do what she likes.
If you are going to see if she can come for a visit and then remain and you sponsor her while she remains in Canada she will be able to get an open work permit as soon as you start the application process.
