I am a swiss...

I am a swiss and united states citizen with a residence in Switzerland. A retired united nations official I am on a full pension and have comprehensive health coverage with a UN cigna health program. My wife and son are both Canadian citizens with my spouse having a residence in Toronto, Ontario.Due to serious health issues affecting one of my family members, my wife has moved back to Toronto. I would like to join her and my family in these difficult times. However, this will take time as the real estate market in the area I am living in Switzerland is not favorable. Selling the property will take time. I do not wish to formerly cut my ties with Switzerland until the residence is sold and the many administrative issues required to terminate residence have been fulfilled. I do NOT have Canadian residency, although in my short visit to Canada I initiated an application.As an 80 year old non-Canadian citizen can I negotiate a residency application which will allow me to remain in Toronto for a good part of the year, pending winding down my Swiss residence.

Annually I file an IRS tax return. Other than that there has been no paper-work with the US government.

Lawyer's Assistant: Have you talked to a lawyer about this?

No. I have been in touch with the Canadian embassy in Bern, Switzerland.Given my particular circumstances they recommended that I contact their embassy in Paris at***@******.***. ---and raise this on a humanitarian level. However, I have been unable to get through to the embassy on the address they gave me.

Are you saying your spouse started a spousal sponsorship application for you?

Is your son an adult?

No she hasn't yet, My son is an adult. I have tried to get a response for 10 days but with no luckI was told that this would cost CH 6. Now I am informed that the amount is CHF 61! This is too much not having received any information ----despite having initiated contact with Canadian lawyers on line -more than ten days ago!
