City of EdmontonI spoke with an expert in contractors and stuff on here yesterday who advised that I speak with a lawyer… So here I am and just wanting to get as much information as possible regarding our rights in this situation before I email my insurance adjuster with photos of the “finished kitchen” . And so on.

I guess technically. It’s the company they hire for all their claims, and then he subcontracts cleaners, carpenters, cabinetry places etc.
He comes and does a quote submits it to the insurance company And in our case when they paid us out from our cause of loss took our deductible from that and paid him… I haven’t spoken with the adjuster quite yet I have in the beginning of the issues and like I said I don’t feel like it was taken very seriously which is why I am just trying to get all my ducks in a row before bringing it up againnow that all of this other stuff is happening on top of the previous issues and I don’t want it to be brushed off again as we are nearing the end of the project I guess? I want to be able to Message her with photos and the information about what is being done in the kitchen and what we are being told by the contractor. And mention that I have had words with professional contractors who all advised that I speak with a lawyer and that I did, and here is the Information I was provided regarding how we proceed with rectifying the situation. Because having my sink cupboard door slam into my stove every single time it’s open is unacceptable I never had that problem before and it’s the exact same layout… Having a corner cupboard replaced with one that is now completely unusable claiming a corner cupboard wouldn’t fit there, and that any replacement of the counters comes out of our pocket is absurd. I had a corner cupboard there initially there’s no reason why another corner one could not be put there… The cupboard under my sink should not be hitting my stove it never did before and some hack job electrical fix to a light switch that was not taken into consideration by said contractor

This is the light switch fix they chose. Which I am now about a week waiting for an electrician in order to use that light in my kitchen

How they plan on hiding that in the back of my appliance pantry I don’t know

this cupboard beside my stove is a pretty big size. And deep. Very deep. But look at the size of that door, to the size of the cabinet and imagine counter on top. What am I supposed to use this deeper then hell cupboard, but itty bitty door.
Before there was a corner unit here. No problem what so ever. But apparently now “a corner unit won’t fit there, it would have to be custom made which would come out of your pocket” and “to replace the cupboard with something else more functional would also come out of your pocket”So I just want to know if this is acceptable or not?The bare minimum they have to provide us is with the same kitchen we had… technically is how I understand it.
But they’re not.

Especially when they installed a corner counter unit on the other side of my sink.

They are supposed to Replace my stove which broke in the fire and my blinds in the kitchen this fire happened at the end of November the very end of November I still have my original stove that only has one working burner and where the plug-in the stove keeps sparking even when nothing is plugged into it.
