My grandson injured his...

My grandson injured his right hand in a work-related incident. He was referrred to wcb and surgery was performed, after physio he was told to return to work on light duty. this is alabour job for which there is no light duty and he suffered pain and stress after returning .he was told to go back to wcb. He has not been supported by wcb in his injury and is unable to perform the job expeced except with severe pain and risk of re injury

Alberta canada we have been told he cant sue or make legal claim because he was offered wcb

he is not able to perform the job without extreme pain and the risk of reinjury because the job he was doing hais as unsafe now as it was beforewcb has discharged him what are his legal options

the employer found it difficult to continue his employment under the conditions, there really are no light duties on this lamanual labour jobmanual jobthis is a job of lifting and manually unloading large sections of temporary fencing for events at diffrent locations accross the cityIt was in the process of unloading that his hand caught on the materials and crushed his hand . It seems that it is an unsafe practicethat is what he is being required to return to

that is what they are sayingHe can and wants to work just not at that type of workHE would be willing to take retraining in an appropriate programThe sugeon will see him next week and wants to fit him with a glove ( not sure what the plan for that isHe is sufferring ongoing severe pain and is getting depressed with all the stress ( no income) no support for the injuryIs it the ersponsibility of his employer to make WCB aware that they cannot continue to offer him light duties , or is it wcb responsibility to assess that jobHe is feeling defeated , would you advise having a lawyer represent him

He clearly needs an advocate because he should be getting compensation for pain and suffering and should be getting retraining.
