In late September 2018, my husband and I visited a White German Shepherd breeder in Ontario to view her puppies and possibly order one. After spending a 1/2 hour there and when we were about to leave, she offered a 5 month old female to us to foster. We were shocked but said yes as she is a lovely animal. I signed a contract which states that if at any time I wish to keep her, I can pay the breeder $1,400.00. I want to keep this dog and I am willing to pay the $1,400.00, however, the contract also states that she must be returned to the breeder to breed once. I don't want to do this. I was there last week and saw the way this breeder treats puppies. The mother was not there and they were not even four weeks old. I am quite upset andam now prepared to let her take me to court. Is such a dog purchase contract common and even legal? I feel foolish that I signed it but I was grieving over the loss of my 12 year old Ridgeback (she died just one week before), and wasn't thinking logically at the time.
