Hi there, I need some legal advice but give me a few minutes to type in story for the question

In 2006 I took my father into a Notary to draft his will and power of attorney papers. He placed me as power of attorney and signed the document in my presence and the notary's presence. It was agreed between the notary, myself and my father that the power of attorney paper would be kept with the notary until such time as it was needed for me to exercise it. In 2008, I took my father back to this notary to change the executor of his estate from my cousin to 50% myself and 50% the notary. He also removed my cousin from the will at this time. There was no changes to anything else in the will or to the power of attorney. again I was present for this change. While in hospital in 2010, my father was having troubles signing his name and stated in front of family that if it got worse that I would have to go to the notary to pick up the paper and exercise my power of attorney so I could take care of things for him. My father is now in hospital in a fully confused state that he is not coming out of due to dementia. Once the hospital has him under proper medication he will require full 24 care and will be placed in a residential care home. I went to the notary yesterday to pick up the power of attorney paper as suggested by the social worker. I was told that the file would need to be looked at by the notary and they would call me. The notary called me last night and insisted my father never signed the paperwork. When explained that I was present for the signing, and that he had come in in 2008 to revise the will only, I was then told that he revoked it in 2008. When I explained that that was incorrect as I was present then as well and my father had mentioned my having power of attorney in front of family in 2010 and that I may need to pick up the paper and exercise it the notary backtracked and stated that the file on the computer showed him as refusing a power of attorney in both 2006 and 2008 but that they would pull the actual paper file and see if that differed from what was on the computer and get back to me. I need advice on what to do if they still try to insist he refused it. It has been known for years by his bank and the family that I have the power of attorney and will only exercise it when it is needed. We are in Surrey, BC
