Looking at the substantive issues, in terms of the job offer it is not required but it is better if you can get a job offer as you will get more points.

The express entry application process takes 6 months so if you are a candidate it is ideal for you.

We don't use the term TN visa. That is just for the US.

You would get a temporary work permit. Going through the NAFTA agreement means you may not need for the employer to go through quite the same rigorous process.

So it is somewhat easier but it's just not ideal as you won't get PR status that way.

When you apply for the express entry the more rigorous application process for the employer would then apply.

The employer would have to get what is called a Labour Market Impact Assessment and that is about getting another branch of the government to determine whether there are or are not enough Canadians or permanent residents to fill the job.

I don't think you can take the test online but I am not sure.
