I suggest you or a lawyer acting for you send the a letter.

Tell them that the debt is a fraud. Tell them that he never worked for you and that if they harm your credit rating in any way you will sue them.

And if necessary you can do just that.

In fact given that this person never did a moment's work you can see if the police would consider this to be fraud.

As I already suggested, you or better yet a lawyer has to send them a letter putting them on notice that you will sue them if you suffer damages. Everyone tells them that they do not owe them money. I am suggesting that you go well beyond that.

If they end up reporting you you can have the credit bureau do an investigation as they have formal procedures for this and then they will end up removing the report.

You would go credit checks on yourself with both bureaus.

Then you would put in a form complaint. They have a formal process that they will go through. Each of their websites tells you how to do it.
