I am sorry for your loss and for this difficult situation.
Are you saying that she had life insurance for the mortgage?
Is a correct that she was dishonest on the insurance application?
There is no possibility of getting the premiums back.
But I don't think you should give up so fast.
There is a lot at stake and from what you are telling me they are using this as an excuse to get out of paying but she didn't hide her cancer and did not have cancer when she applied and she did in fact answer totally honestly.
I think you should have a lawyer write them and threaten a lawsuit but also find out what that doctor said and if necessary get a medical expert to back up your position.
