Customer Question

I inherited $220,000 from my wife this year. The money was in a Canadian bank at the time of her death. We were both residents of the USA at the time of her death. Both of us were born in Canada. We moved to the US about ten years before her death. Her Will was probated in Canada. Is there an inheritance tax to pay?

I am sorry for your loss.

Are you asking about the law in Canada or the US? I can only answer about the law in Canada. If you are asking about the law in the US I can ask the site to move this question to the US list.
