Seriously, how does this work?

Mother was having financial difficulties so I obtained a mortgage on her behalf. All done in advance with an attorney, documenting our action as a limited trust transaction only, for which I had no beneficiary interest in her property. Once her financial issues were cleared up, she would have been able to assume the mortgage and move on.Unfortunately, before that could happen, I ran into some business problems, accrued unsecured debts and with a mortgage in my name, they were somehow able to put a lien on my mother's house and cloud the title. She has been able to assume mortgage for several years now as her finances are in order, but the clouded title/liens are preventing us from completing the transaction.I don't recall being sued. I suspect a lien can be applied in absence of a lawsuit. She's engaged an attorney to take this to trial and remedy (the liens).That said, I'm interested in knowing if the statute of limitations (SOL) applies to the 3 creditors that put a lien on my mother's house. Or if the current lien activity is stopping the clock on the SOL.I can't remember the exact figures, but one was for $30k, one for $15k and another for $80k. The $80k one was a secured loan, secured by a property which CMHC and the bank took in 2008 to satisfy the loan. Somehow or another though the value of the house they foreclosed on was sufficient to pay off the entire debt, there was still a $80k portion that they attached to my mother's home.The first two were credit cards and the last was a house that was foreclosed on.

My name was put on title to complete the mortgage on my mother's house. She did not guarantee any of the unsecured credit card debts. We did have a trust put together clearly outlining that the transaction was for a limited time and I had no interest in the property. So the lien issues on my mother's house are going to trial. I wasn't notified of a trial, but to get the the liens on the house a judgement had to be entered; correct.The CMHC lien on my Mother's house was generated from a completely different rental property that I owed. The bank took my rental property back and obtained a judgement but applied the lien on my mother's house.I'm confident the liens will be removed from my mother's house at trial.Since the judgements against me do not expire in Ontario. What further recourse will the creditors have (after the liens have been removed from my mother's house) against me?

I now live in Texas and do not plan on returning to Canada any time soon. If however, I return say in 10 years do you think with these judgements in place they will take such actions?

Alternatively, if I put together a consumer package with a Trustee to deal with this. Will I only need to include the 3 creditors that have the judgements as all of the other credit card debts are going on 10 years old with no legal action taken. In other words, if there hasn't been a judgement on this credit card debt and its 10 years old, do I need to address it with bankruptcy or can I just take the 3 creditors that have judgements into consideration
