That is likely going to be considered too restrictive by the court.
The court will enforce a non-competition agreement so long as it is not too restrictive. Generally two years is too long. A one year restriction would more likely be enforced.
And the court will not enforce an agreement that is too restrictive geographically though 7 km ( or did you actually mean miles?) is likely not too restrictive.
So it is possible that if you son competes and is sued the court will set aside the agreement but there is no clear answer here unfortunately.
It may be best for your son to take the contract and have it reviewed by a local employment lawyer.
