The law about divorcing in Canada and likely in other jurisdictions is that where you get divorced is based on where you were currently residing and not where you got married. It is rarely if ever based on citizenship either.

For Canada to recognize your divorce and I suspect that is the same in other jurisdictions but I don't honestly know, you have to have lived in the jurisdiction for at least one year before applying for the divorce, or your spouse has to have lived there for at least one year before the application is made.

So if you don't care about what Canada considers a legal divorce then you should simply speak to a lawyer where you are living to find it what you must do to get a valid divorce.

If you do care about what Canadian law says then you must get divorced where you've been living for the last year or where your spouses has been living for the past year.

As I said earlier, where you are married has nothing to do with where you get divorced. Where you live dictates where you get divorced and what laws apply.
