Sorry no the farmer removed 1/2 mile of fence in April of 2015 . The farmer had clipped the fence posts attached to the Texas gate that is used by oil company on his side of road allowance when he was out in field doing spring seeding preparation. The rancher phoned and complained to the oil company to have "the oil company fix the posts". The farmer then told oil company representative not to fix anything that he would make it easy for them and remove fence posts and wire attached to Texas gate so that they wouldn't keep fixing it . Then rancher went in to Brooks Alta RCMPand complained about farmer tampering with "his" fence. RCMP told rancher that this is a civil issue not criminal. Two officers drove out to farm to see who farmer was . Farmer was upset that rancher sent RCMP to yard so 1/2mile of fence came down which is just beginning of another mile and a half that farmer wants to take down and have rancher build his own fences on his side of road allowance at his own cost. The farmer offered the rancher the fence posts of the half mile of fence that he removed but not wire cause farmer gathered wire on skid steer with a spool and didn't take time to roll wire one at a time. ( The rancher came along in his truck as farmer was removing fence and asked farmer why he wanted to take fence when it was the fence that he had always used. He kept telling the farmer that it was "his " fence. The farmer said no this half mile was paid for by both of them at cost of 950.00 over 20 years ago. His contribution should have depreciated out so it was coming down. Farmer told rancher that they were no longer friends and that farmer didn't want rancher trespassing on his land anymore ( which he would have to do for any maintenance because west side of fence was on farmer's land).
The rancher has pushed and been a bully for years so the past has to be taken in to consideration to deal with the present which is that the farmer doesn't want the rancher using his side of the road allowance. The Cypress County should be involved but as rancher was once a councillor and a reeve , it's a sensitive issue. The rancher has directed the county to do road maintenance in the past using public funds and they have done what he has requested . It's not right. The farmer no longer wants anything to do with this rancher.
