My name is *******, Years ago around 2010-2011 when my older
Years ago around 2010-2011 when my older sister was on vacation (we live in Toronto) my father said he wants to buy a house for us kids that his wife (he is divorced from our mom) would be unaware of thus having no claim to it in any way in case they divorce or he dies. He sent me and his real estate agent to find a suitable in the Greater Toronto Area. This house was meant to put an end to the displacement and chaos which came with his divorce from my mom since us siblings were young and had no stable home. (my older sister Nikki born ****, me ****, my little sister ********) I found a perfect house on *******. He bought it for $380,000 and there's a mortgage on her too. He took me to an office and I signed a paper putting the house under my name. A few weeks later Nikki (the older sister) came from vacation furious and angry. Blaming him for me being favored, her being overweight, depressed, anxiety, raised with verbal abuse etc. She set him boundaries if he was to stay in her life. It's also important to mention that I had substance abuse issues at the time (oxy contin but no longer today as for years) She gave him conditions which I was later to find out included taking my name out of the house and putting it under hers (instead of just having her come and ALSO become an owner which would have been fair) I was effected by substance abuse at the time and my father knew this. He picked me up one day not long after I'd signed for the house and said "you need to sign something that will void you from being responsible for the $2200/month mortgage) we went to an office and in just a few moments he pushed me into signing what I trusted him to be a harmless form to sign. Later he signed my sister as the sole owner. She then took the house for herself and again caused the rest of us to bounce back and forth between other homes including my poor birth mother who's been abused the most by her. This house has 3 bedrooms 2.5 bathrooms and plenty of space which is why I chose it for us. My father (after me discovering what I'd signed) told me that if I successfully kick my habbit he will happily sign me back under the house which I'd have gladly shared as (unlike Nikki I do not view myself as an only child). Now there are talks of selling the house since my dads business is beginning to fail after many years of good business. I am married since 2016 and sober and wanting to start my own business. But they will sell that house and give me nothing. I was taken advantage of, fooled, and then mislead with hope and seemingly fooled again. There has got to be something one can do about this. I feel so cheated and can't get this issue resolved with them since I'm always just shut down by my sister who has since made every other move possible to become my father's sole heir. I have contacted my addictions doctors for records to show my substance influence being present at the time. And I'd also be interested in knowing whether the office I signed in was even a lawyers office or just some real estate office or whether that matters at all. Do you think I have a case? … read more
