I have a question for an employment lawyer. At will. HourlyHi! I was recently hired by a company and my probation period will be over on August 12. I had a performance review that went well without any concerns identified. The company has significantly over-hired for my position and our schedules are very open. Shortly after my probationary review a mass email was sent stating that a new probationary procedure was being implemented and that all new hires would have to write and pass an open ended exam with a mark of 85% and that contract could be terminated if we failed to pass. The test was extremely difficult with no time given. My probation period will end on August 12 and they have not yet provided me my test results. Are they able to fire me after my probation period ends without concern of wrongful dismissal? I am also 27 weeks pregnant and have not yet advised them of the pregnancy just as a side note. Any advice on waiting vs informing them to protect my rights would be helpful. Thank you… read more
