My son was charged with underage drinking wile in Halifax. He is 18 years old. What is the impact of the charge to him if he pleads guilty?
Thank you for your question. My name is XXXXX XXXXX my goal is to provide you with the best possible answer.

To achieve that goal it may be that I will find that I need to gather further information from you. As well, it's quite possible that you may feel the need to ask me additional questions for further clarification.

But, please understand that as a careful lawyer I will always give you an honest answer even if the answer is sometimes not what you were hoping for.

This is a provincial offence rather than a criminal offence. It is under the Liquor Control Act.

This means essentially that your son will pay a fine and that will be it.

He will not have a record as this is not a criminal act.

It's really the same as getting a driving ticket.

Let me know if you need any further clarification.

Thank you for your quick response.

So I am clear. Once he pays the fine he is free and clear?

And joins the ranks of many, many kids how have been similarly charged. Without revealing anything confidential I can assure you he is in good company! Sigh.

Thank you again for your response.

My apologies, I read the ticket wrong. He was charged with public intoxication. What happens if he pleads guilty to this?

This is under the Liquor Control Act too isn't it?

Can you read the ticket to be sure it's under that Act?

Customer: replied 3 years ago.

Yes it is under the liquor control act

Then it's the same as any other ticket.

It's over when he pays the fine.
