Let me explain the law as there is no basis for him paying only 1/2 of the school expenses.

That would be the case if you were earning the same amount of income.

The way child support works when a child is over the age of majority but attending school full-time is that the support continues but is generally reduced to 1/3 of the regular amount if the child is away at school.

Then you both contribute to the school related expenses, including room and board in proportion to your respective incomes.

So if he earns $250,000 and you earn $25,000 then you pay 25,000/275,000 or 10% and he pays 90%.

Is the other child now independent.

It would be 1/3 or the table amount for one child in BC at $25,000 plus 90% of all school-related expenses.
