My beloved son died approx 18 months ago. He was in my sole legal custody from age 8 yo and I raised him (no child support or government child benefits) until he ran away from home to be with his Mother in Ontario at age 17. For certain I held legal/custody rights but decided not to report or complain, given I had sent him up there every summer for 2-3 weeks (at my expense) in care of his maternal grandparents. And he clearly decided to repatriate with his Mom. The Mother seemed ok too when I visited with my son at least 2-3 times per year at Ontario, since then. Since my Son's sudden death there has been (mostly) silence from the Mother. She is grieving, to be sure, but absolutely refuses to tell me what happened with our Son. I have written the Coroner's office in ON (twice this year) and still no response. I have repatriated my Son's remains from Ontario only because I paid for the cremation and am responsible for burying him here in his hometown.
