They cannot sue you now.
It's been at least 8 years since you last deal with this debt.
They are well beyond the limitation period and why they can ask for the money they have no way of enforcing their demands.
Just be sure not to agree to make a small payment towards the debt and do not acknowledge the debt.
If you do then this restarts the limitation period. This is what they may try to do by encouraging you to make a small good faith payment. This is a trick and then they can sue you if you restart the limitation period.
