When the doctors put her in the hospital in Grand Forks, B.C. sometime in early spring of 2011. I drove out from Alberta to see her. My brother had a key to moms house and that is where I stayed along with a friend that came out with me. Mom was this close to being a horder and I proceeded along with my brother to throw out old newspapers and magazines and junk. My sister at that point came along and accused me of stealing stuff. I was very shocked as was my brother, told her she could clean it out herself and left to come back to Alberta the next day. At the same time she informed Keith (my brother) and I that she was the executor and had gotten power of attorney on mom. We both asked her to have copies of the will, just in case something happened to her. She said she couldn't do that. We already knew basically what was in the will as mom had told Keith and I both what her plans were. The will is very cut and dried. About 2 weeks later Keith seen that a lock smith was at moms house and changing the locks. This is such a long story maybe it would be faster to talk. But to speed things up a bit. I thought as beneficarys we should see records of bank accounts, a list of safety deposit box contents, a copy of funeral expenses etc. The last letter from her lawyer states that Keith and I have to pay for half of the funeral expenses. When I contacted my sister (Jean) about this and said that mom had a chequing account to cover these expenses. She said that mom said that she could have that money. My mom would never have given her any money that wasn't to be split 3 ways. My mom was getting dementia for quite sometime. Both my mom and dad said that everything is to be split 3 ways. Which is what the will basically says. When I came out the first time, mom's jewerly was missing. She said she didn't know where it was or a small box of coins that my parents had in the same place for over 40 years, they were gone as well. She has had no contact with Keith and I since June of 2011. Oh Jean also lives in Greenwood. My brother would also be available to talk if you need to. Keith is the oldest, then me and Jean 10 years younger than me. When mom was going back and forth to Grand Forks to the hospital for dialysis it was Keith that drove her for years. Jean is saying that she was moms care giver it is not true. She had in home care plus a weekly housekeeper paid for by my dads veterans pay. This is a nightmare and we don't want her to get away with this stuff. We have always been a close knit family, so I thought but not anymore.
