I was given a ring by my ex. We broke up and he owes me $600.

I was given a ring by my ex. We broke up and he owes me $600. I was going to sell the ring to recoupe some of the money that I have lost. After thinking about it I had a gut feeling that he might not have gotten the ring by how he told me. He said he reclaimed it from his ex baby mama. the Ex baby mama said she had gotten it from his great aunt.
I just wanted to get the RCMP to check to see if it was stolen or not. So now a few months have past and I wanted to see how the search was going. So I phoned the detachment and the constable said that she asked him about his story but he said that he had gotten the ring from his ex who had gotten it from his aunt and he was holding it for the aunt but he had not given it to anyone. The constable said that she would be returning the ring to the aunt but need my signature to release the ring. I went to the station and sign the property form. But now that I think about it since he said to the RCMP that he didnt give the ring to anyone. Can this come back to being my issue. My Ex is a sneaky liar that seems to get of on borrowing money from girls and cheating on them with broke tramps.

Also if he tries to contact me again what should I do. I dont want to talk to him ever again.
