No income tax will be payable and no tax return needs to be filed if you are a non-resident of Canada, unless you earn income in Canada. So if you receive employment income from an employer located in Canada, or government benefits from Canada, or interest on a Canadian bank account or a dividend from a Canadian corporation, as examples, you would need to pay Canadian income tax. But as a non-resident if your only source of income is from employment from a foreign employer then there are no Canadian tax obligations.
