I landed in Canada in May 2019 to get my PR card, and withinI landed in Canada in May 2019 to get my PR card, and within a month left back to Qatar, where I currently reside. I have been living in Qatar all my life, I studied here, am employed here and also have my business here. I do plan to move to Canada to get the Canadian citizenship, however, I could stay in Qatar longer than originally planned and risk losing my PR card (that expires June 2024). When I landed, I opened up my individual bank account with TD, and also a direct investing account with them, as I am very interested in the stock market, and related investments. Since 2019, I have been adding funds to my portfolio very regularly, and have grown my account quite considerably. Given that I am not a citizen, and also the fact that I might lose my PR card (after 2024), I would like to look into ways to secure my Investments in Canada on a more permanent basis. I could think of some of the following points to do this, and also please feel free to add to this, other ways in which I could reach my objectives: Set up a company (related to capital investment/stock trading etc) in Canada, and move my Portfolio to this company, as opposed to just holding shares as an individual. I believe such a move would enable me to secure my investment portfolio, regardless of my PR status/citizenship, etc, while living in Qatar, or any other country outside of Canada. I do need your input on this however, as I want to choose the most favourable option for myself as an investor. Also, I would like to know taxation implications incase I do chose to open a company. Furthermore, If I open a company now as a PR holder, and in future if I do not have a PR status/neither do I Live in Canada, do I still maintain complete ownership of this company, or do the regulations change. … read more
