So is there nothing your employer can do because the law is the employer is required to make accomodations if you were on sick leave.

What do you mean when you ask about retiring? Is the employer offering you a retirement package?

I assume the LTD is ending because you are no longe umemployable. Is that correct?

No as this is involving the securities industry. There might of been an option to ask for an extension but this is a pretty gray area and it was not done.

No the employer has not offered me anything. Because of my age I can retire early.

When you say you can retire early do you mean you have a pension that will kick in?

I belonged to the non-contributory pension plan and will receive 1 of 2 amounts depending on management approval.

Are you asking about whether you should appeal the decision to end your LTD?

My question is do I have a right to a severance package as i do not qualify for my old position?

It's not clear that you do because this is beyond their control.
It's not their fault that you lost your accreditation.
Debra Thal (username) :
But it would be a good idea to consult with a local lawyer because this is very complex and your particular set of facts, that is the loss of accreditation coupled with the LTD may work out in your favour because they are obliged to accomodate you.
