I am blind, and began working for the CNIB in BC in September…

I am blind, and began working for the CNIB in BC in September of 1979. In January of 2003, I was hurt in a serious accident, thus ending my career. After exhausting my sick days and short term disability, I began collecting CPP Disability Benefits, which are augmented by payments from Great West Life. Earlier this month, after receiving medical information from my Doctor, which indicated no chance of returning to work, I was advised by the CNIB that effective January 3rd of 2011, my employment was "terminated", due to "frustration of Contract". I have been promised 8 weeks "Termination Pay", "in acordance with the "Employment Standards Act". I feel that I should be entitled to either 23 weeks "Severence Pay", based on the fact that I had been working for approximately 23 years at the time of my injury, or possibly even 31 weeks "Severence Pay", based on the fact that at the time of my termination, I had been employed for 31 years. I spoke with the Director of Human Resources, who indicated that "Termination Pay", is not the same as "Severence Pay". Is the CNIB"s position correct, or is the use of the term "Termination Pay" an attempt to use a technicality in order to have to pay me less?
