For the last 6 1/2 years I was employed as a technical sales specialist for a large Healthcare, lighting and home care conglomerate. Over the 6 1/2 years with the company, I had good performance reviews and exceeded my quota 5 out of the 6 1/2 years. This year was looking to be an exceptional year for me. As of November 2011, I was $243% of quota with earning of $204,000 in commissions on top of $71,200 base salary and rated #1 in Canada and all North America. Typically as the #1 sales specialist, the company awards you with what is called the pinnacle award which includes an elaborate trip to a resort at some exotic place in the world.

On Dec. 8, 2010 I was lured into our head quarters office on the pretence that I was to go over my business plan for 2011, upon entering my manager office told "effective, immediately I was no longer employed with the company and the reason was a business decision and that was all they would say. They offered extended employment for several week to give me time to search for new employment and a $ figure pay out which was far less than my salary for the last 6 1/2 years I was with the company. Also, at hand was around $100,000 in backlog commissions and orders I had secured, but purchase orders were not yet issued.

My position was in the Healthcare division where the sales cycle could be as long as 5 years, requiring far more than 40 hours a week, weekend training sessions and travel from east coast to west coast to demonstrate equipment.

To date, I have heard from a customer that a company representative told him I was let go do to speaking loudly with customers and certain habits.

6 months ago I was appointed a new manager, who upon my additional hiring complained to the my existing manager that I was too American in my approach with customers. However just months ago my old manager commended me on my ability to have become more canadian in my sales approach.

Out of the the entire North American Sales Organization of about 2000, I am the only black female, and since I entering the industry in 1996, I have been the only black female selling in my modality.

My concern is that I am being denied money that I worked long and hard hours for and I am being discriminated against because I am American, black and too successful versus my colleagues.

Can you provide any advice on how to approach this issue. I did not accepted their offer and I'm fighting to get the additional $ I deserve. However, at this point my, treatment seems so unfair, I would like to expose this kind of treatment and work to issuer this kind of dismissal cannot happen with out a formal warning prior to the dismissal.
