After 29 years, if you are entitled to support it would most likely be ongoing indefinitely.

And after 29 years of marriages it's also likey that at the end of the day your incomes should be equalized.

All assets and debts would be shared and the pension is one of those assets.

That's not quite how double dipping be considered. It's close but not cotally accurate.

The pension is an asset.

So, you get your share of the asset.

And ongoing spousal support continues until there is a material change in circumstances. Bona fide and reasonable retirement is a change in circumstances.

And when that happens your support can be reviewed.

The Court would then look at your needs and her means, again. Her pension income from work will not be included in her income. But any other income she has will. That would include any part-time work that she does, any investment income etc.

As well, you would both have CPP.

So, it's not that your support stops. It just is likely reduced then.
