Hello, I hope you can help me with my question? I have a joint loan with a now ex girl friend that we established 2 years ago. It was for $50,0000 to consolidate mostly her credit cards and some debt of mine as well. I already had a $25k credit line, but she needed me to co-borrow the entire $50 with her because on her own she would not qualify. We have paid a $1000 / month for 24 months now and the remaining loan is about $34,000 owing. We split up after 18 months and are not common law spouses. She has been paying her half up until this time.

She now says it is unfair that she has to pay half $500 because I earn more money than her and the reality of her financial picture has settled in. She is contesting what the consolidatoin loan was spent on. I want to know if she is liable for her half of the loan and payment by law. The loan is in our mutual names and we have always paid half each. I am not contesting my half (even though I owed less) because it was the right thing to do. She has told me she will go bankrupt if she has to avaoid paying, an idle threat, I know I have to pay if she goes delinquent, but is she liable for half???
